Was given a smoking room with no non smoking options available even though a non smoking room was booked. Good place. Enjoyed the visit. I'm sure their reservation system doesn't over extend room type bookings which only leaves one result. Maybe a friend, a local or a good bribe. Of course I asked if I could change my room the next day. A last chance opportunity for the night manager to provide exemplary customer service, and satisfy a customer by correcting their mistake. My take. El Dud-rado or whatever the parent company is now can take their lame excuse for their properties business policies and put it you know where. Me, I'll never return. I expect better especially after being a long time dedicated customer of the Caesar's program. Maybe it's time to trial the Mlife properties and see how their treatment is towards dedicated customers. They could just do the bare minimum and surpass El Dud-rado. And here's my TRs number Don't mind outing myself because I really take offense when subjected to such pathetic, inconsiderate and uncompassionate behavior to correct and rectify a poorly managed mistake on their part. Wow has this changed! We have stayed at this hotel, except for the last 2 years, several time on our way back from Florida. One year because they were flooded by the Ohio and another because they were not taking room One year because they were flooded by the Ohio and another because they were not taking room reservations. We noticed that over the years, services were being eliminated, but still the rooms were good and the main restaurant was worth dining in. This year we were able to get a room and game at the same time. My wife and I were happy that things were back! Not so fast. Upon arrival, the circle drive to drop off our luggage was blocked off. In order to check in, we had to park in general parking and lug our luggage up steps. Parking was fairly full so we were about 3 rows back. No accommodations for hotel stays. Check in was OK, but in the room They said that they would send it up and if we needed more than 2 cups to call for more. I think next year we will book the Baymont next door, I think they will appreciate us more. Nice room but only so-so casino. We recently spent two nights here. We had not been there in quite some time. The rooms are still nice and no problems there. Cant drink any more either-which was a huge let down for us as we like to sip and play. Cant bring any beverages into the casino either from the room, etc. Wasnt crazy about having to show drivers license just to enter the place either. Machines were tight. I don't normally write reviews, but the overall experience was so hideous that I feel I must share it. Really, an entire posse for a 70 year old woman? Initially she thought maybe she had accidentally put her ticket in a machine that still had money in it. It happens. Normally who ever left money quickly realizes it and there is no problem. So they confiscated what she had left - just over half what they were saying she 'stole' and expected her to come up with the remaining amount. They had no idea who she was, what her name was, if she was local or staying at the hotel. The security team seemed to just want to escalate this on the casino floor, perhaps thinking she would agree to paying them something instead of being embarrassed? They would not talk to my father and were very rude to him and to me when I asked what was going on with my mother and why they were treating her this way. This all could have been handled in a much more respectful way! When we pieced back together the few details they would provide, we might not have even been in the casino when this started! But it appears that the security posse took the threats so far that they couldn't back down or stop to deal with this properly. We really think there was some type of mistaken identity or some other type of issue going on. Do they do this to the local people also, or just target 70 year old women who they can baffle into paying for something they may or may not have done? Read more. KingCobra Marlton, NJ contributions. Checked out the Harrah's in Metropolis, Illinois as a quick stop over on our family road trip 5 of us, all over For the size of this casino three floors but not enough slots or tables , it was very crowded. It was hard finding a slot machine to play on and it wasn't even the weekend, it was during the day on a weekday! We live near Atlantic City, New Jersey, so we are used to the larger casinos and not these smaller ones. However, we used our comps from the AC Casino and had 5 free buffets, which are actually fairly priced. Not as much food, but definately worth the price. The Gestapo guards in casino need to be taken outside and taught some manners, 3 Short fat guards in casino, not social distancing, yelled at my wife and I telling us to put up our mask. We are old it takes a few seconds to take a drink and set it down then put up the mask!! One of the little fat guards told me to put up mask or they would have me removed. I am a Marine vet, I have never been talked to like this. The front desk staff was fantastic. Harrah's should be ashamed of having people like this work for them. Maybe should sell this one like they have done so many others. The 3 little pigs would have to go find a real job. Big Changes from the Past. The mailers describing the new casino makes one curious; had to take a look. The new casino is right off the hotel lobby, so a lot more convenient than the old boat. It also is bigger, and has 2 bars or lounges; much nicer than hunting an oasis on the boat. The casino is penny slot heaven. The higher value slots are there, but not so many and not a great selection. The table games were crowded all the time I was there; and there were no pitch blackjack games. Not a lot of choice or access for the table player. Some of the laws in Illinois are very good, some not so much. The fact that the place is all non-smoking is wonderful. The casino closes late in the evening, which is not much of an issue for me, but the fact that it does not open until 9AM means to access the only restaurant the buffet before that time means you have to walk across the parking lot at the rear of the hotel from the hotel lobby , and there are no signs or directions to that effect. The Diamond Lounge and buffet are still on a barge in the river, and can be reached through the casino-when it is open. Kind of a cumbersome arrangement. The sit-down restaurant off the lobby in the hotel had very good food and service, but is not open in the AM. But for the evening meal, check it out. IMHO, this place is a step up from Tunica, except that there is no choice if things don't go well in the one casino. At least there is a town and the Superman stuff, compared to the cotton patches in Mississippi. The employees at Metropolis were courteous and helpful, and the new digs are nice. The hotel has always been good, and now the casino is on a much-improved level. Worst casino ever. If your going to play blackjack at this casino you might as well throw your money out the window. Every blackjack table is rigged somehow because every table we were at the dealer was hitting 20 or 21 every time. I have been there a few times just to also watch how other players are doing on the blackjack tables and a lot of people are complaining about the blackjack tables and I can understand why, the dealer hits 20 or 21 every time. Someone needs to bring in the gaming commission and figure out what is going on with this rigged up casino. Written December 30, Great little casino. I really liked this casino. It had a good selection of slots including the newer video slots and plenty of the old reel machines, They had a nice selection of table games. The real highlight is the staff. Slot attendants, dealers, cocktail servers, cage employees all were very friendly and made you feel valued as a customer. The casino is smoke-free; there is a small smoking deck for those who need it. Written February 11, Doug N 6 contributions. Treated poorly. Last night I had dinner and was gambling and went outside and upon reentry was stopped by a young female security guard. She wanted to see my ID. I am 55 years old. When I ask what was going on she called her supervisor over and informed me I was too intoxicated to gamble. Trust me I was not. I had had wine but I was not physically impaired. My speech was normal , walk normal. They let me re enter if I promised not to drink. I will not return. Casino is Disappointing. Since our last visit the casino has been downsized. Very few video polka machine. Also found the machines were the tightest we have seen; ever tighter than what you find in the Indian casinos. However, the staff was outstanding, very helpful and very friendly. The music was too loud and certainly not suited for senior citizens. Not planning to visit this casino again. Written February 25, Sherry W Nashville, TN 77 contributions. Was expecting more. Just came back from my first visit to the new casino. We usually stay overnight, but just drove down for New Year's day. The new casino is located just off the elevators where the long hall and meeting rooms were located on the walk to the riverboat from inside the hotel. Just before the casino opening is a little place to grab food - for breakfast there are not many options, donuts, muffins, bagels, etc. They do have a toaster to warm up your purchase and a few tables to eat at. Once inside the casino, there is a new bar and grill , the slots are around the outside of the space and the table games are in the center. The cashier, host and kiosks are to the left when you enter. The slots were not very loose. This is a small casino and I actually spent as much time trying to find a slot to play as I did playing. Some people were playing two machines and most other casinos will not let you play two machines when it is crowded. I did not play any table games and I did not eat at the new bar and grill. There is also only one restroom in the casino the big restroom that was in the hallway between the hotel and casino. The restroom is large enough, however, there is just small door going in and out, so I saw many people running into one another. This is still a problem that I cannot believe has been addressed yet: The only option for a hot breakfast is the buffet. There is no covered walkway. There is a sidewalk along the building, it seems that they could cover that with plastic or something. I'm actually not sure why they didn't build a small walkway alongside the new casino wall for buffet access when the casino is closed. Like the Hollywood casino in Tunica. If the bellman are not busy they can shuttle you up and down on a golf cart, but sometimes you have to wait a while. As for the buffet food - since we were there on New Year's day they supposedly had a brunch buffet. Luckily I had a free buffet or I would have asked for my money back after just looking at the options. It's not a very big buffet to begin with so when you take a whole station and half a station for about seven breakfast items, that takes away from the lunch options. The vegetables and sides were very lacking - broccoli, zucchini and squash, mashed taters, black eyed peas, cabbage. A spot was also taken up for cheese sauce for the broccoli - which could have had green beans, corn, something else??? They had fried chicken, fried catfish, grilled chicken, ham, prime rib. I tried the fried chicken but the outside of it was soft and greasy - the chicken inside was very dry. The mashed potatoes and black eyed peas were ok. They had a small salad bar, four soups, cheese and crackers, along with some deserts they do offer a few non sugar deserts. They also had a lasagna and pizza - I tried both. I've had the pizza before and it was pretty good, however, this one tasted like the cheap frozen pizzas from the grocery - the thin crust ones with very little cheese and meat. The lasagna was actually pretty good - it did no last very long because they had just put it out when I arrived and I went for a second scoop and there was none. It was never replenished while I was in there. Since I wasn't happy with the lunch options I tried the eggs and a few pieces of bacon. The bacon was very greasy but I wiped off the excess with napkins and it was pretty good. The eggs however had a watered down taste to them - like when pasta has been sitting in water for a long time. The deserts were just the usual, ice cream, pie, there were no cookies out when I was in there. I was really hoping they would have some new food choices like the small restaurant they use to have near the lobby for breakfast. The new bar and grille was the only food I didn't try and it was just mainly sandwiches. There is nothing else really close by except a hardees and dairy queen. I was also hoping they would address the outside walk issue. I was also disappointed there were not more slots. John E Bettendorf, IA 41 contributions. Rude staff, smoke filled, not some place I would return to. Nothing positive to say regarding this place. Written November 11, Showing results of Rosiland P. Read all replies. How much is the minimum at the blackjack tables and do they have the sidebet options? I heard there's a smoking area outside? Guy C Franklin, TN 6 contributions. I didn't play black jack and the smoking section is outside at the main entrance. Jeff K. Through the week what are the minimum bets on 3 card poker? Capprice D. No there is no cost to get into the casino. Always sign up for the casino card so you can earn points for free food and hotel stay. They have a buffet and restaurant on sight which is ok. Have a great time I hope you win. Madison M. Not at Harrah's. You are close to downtown Metropolis so there may be kid friendly activities nearby. Kim H Eddyville, KY. Kyna G Marion. Which day seems to be best to win Monday or Friday? Bonnie R Eddyville, KY 31 contributions. There is no such thing as a best day to win. It's just adult entertainment, we take what we feel we can lose, if we win we've won double. Have a great time, we did. The casino was moved on land to an extension of the hotel in The buffet is still in the original location, the entrance to where the boat was docked. You can get to the buffet by going through the casino or going outside and crossing the road to the entrance. Mramar06 Beverly Hills, FL 3 contributions. Connie R Paducah, KY 27 contributions.
